The IT University of Copenhagen is an independent educational and research institution founded in 1999. The university teaches and researches within a wide range of subjects in the field of IT, and is dedicated to breaking new ground and enabling Denmark to become exceptionally good at creating value with IT - in a local context as well as through global interaction and cooperation.

 

 

History

IT University of Copenhagen was founded in 1999 due to a want of IT educations in Denmark. Immediately a success, mainly due to the university’s unique view on IT as a discipline drawing on technology as well as humanities, design and business, it was in 2003 officially appointed the 12th university in Denmark. 

 

 

Education and Research

The IT University of Copenhagen offers:

  • 4 MSc programmes
  • Professional Masters

 

The university has a strong research environment including a comprehensive PhD programme and offers a variety of research based study programmes, part time and also single subject studies within the field of IT. The PhD programmeat the IT University of Copenhagne is one of the largest in Denmark within the field of IT. 

 

At the university the research field of IT is regarded as a new discipline drawing on technology and natural sciences as well as humanities, design and business. Hence, the study programmes approaches IT from different angles, making the student body at the IT University a great mix of students with various gender and educational backgrounds.

By being innovative and globally interactive the IT University of Copenhagen aspires to hold  a position among the best in the world, both in terms of academic standards and in terms of creation of value.

 

 

International Students

Roughly one fourth of the approximately 2000 students at the IT University are international. With more than 40 different nationalities represented among its students, the IT University offers a truly globalized study environment. The university builds on the student’s variety of nationalities and educational backgrounds making their diversity an asset to the study programmes, the lectures and university life.

 

The IT University welcomes international students and offers support through the International Office and student councellors.
