Copenhagen Business School

Copenhagen Business School has around 18.000 students and an annual intake of around 1.500 exchange students. With this number of students as well as around 550 full-time researchers and around 900 administrative employees, CBS is among the largest business schools in Europe. As it was also the case in 2009, CBS was ranked number three in the world after Harvard and London Business Schools in 2010.

History

Copenhagen Business School is a private educational institution, and it was established in 1917 by the Danish Society for the Advancement of Business Education. In 1965 the business school gradually integrated into the Danish education system as an institution of higher education. Today CBS is regulated by the Danish Universities Act of 2003.

Education and research

CBS is organised into one faculty comprising 14 departments as well as a large number of research centres. CBS gives very high priority to cross-disciplinary and problem-oriented approaches. CBS’ research profile covers a wide range of subjects within the social sciences and the humanities. A wide academic scope is a prerequisite for CBS to be able to challenge habitual ways of thinking and traditional business economics and language issues.

CBS offers a comprehensive range of academic degrees in business economics and modern languages among them a broad selection of full-time programs at the three levels: 3-year Bachelor, 2-year Master’s, and a 3-year PhD. In addition to general degree programs, one of CBS’ specialties is the selection of integrated programs that combine business economics and modern languages with other areas, such as psychology, communication, IT, management science, philosophy, area studies, sociology and law. Another important feature at CBS is the wide range of post experience education options offered, i.e. part-time programs and courses targeted at the business sector.

Vision

“Business in Society"

  • To put learning into focus: Education deserves just as much priority as research.
  • To contribute more to society: We need to get our research out of the house and help solve the substantial problems that society is facing.
  • To strengthen the region and engage globally: We must focus on the Copenhagen Metropolitan Region - and take advantage of the region's traditions.

International students

Each year CBS welcomes over 2.000 international students thereby creating a very exciting and international environment for students and staff alike. More than 20 programs are taught entirely in English.
