The study environment is really international. The homework is usually done by a team which means that I have cooperated with several classmates, who are from different countries. During the team work, I learn different ideas and manage to solve problems with them.
My major is wind energy. As we know, Denmark is a environmentally friendly country, which is quite famous for its wind energy utilization. Now more than 20% electricity comes from wind and they have an ambition to reach 100% until 2050. So I believe from DTU, I can touch the most advanced idea and technology about wind power.
The thing I like most here is people’s attitude towards life. People live happily. The natural scenery here is beautiful.
The study environment is really international. The homework is usually done by a team which means that I have cooperated with several classmates, who are from different countries. During the team work, I learn different ideas and manage to solve problems with them. It is a quite interesting process, because I also make friends with them and learn more about countries where my study partners come from. On the other hand, no matter he or she is professor, head of one section or any other manager, they are quite friendly to help you. We can drop by the professor’s office whenever we want. Professors also reply our email quite quickly. Generally, here we can quite easily commute with others.
I have the chance to learn some of the most leading knowledge about my subject and take lectures from processors who are experts in this field. Usually one course is taught by two professors. And several external experts will be invited to give us lectures. For instance, I took one course called ‘Planning and development of wind farms’. The course was mainly based on a software named ‘WAsP’ to plan and develop wind farms. The teacher is one of the guys who wrote this software. This course also invited several other lecturers. Some are from companies and some are experts in other fields. Each person will teach what they are really good at. During this kind of course I can learn different and top knowledge. This kind of teaching is quite interesting and useful.
The education level here is quite high. Even elders can speak very good English.
Denmark is a small country, without so much amusement and not too many choices at the supermarket. Also, the living expense is expensive. The winter is too long. Another thing is about the high price. For example a bottle of coca cola, 500ml, costs 20 DKK (25RMB).
My best experience is that I need to take care of my study at the same time as I take advantage of my free time and make money to support myself. Because I think I have already been adult for several years. I should make living by myself, which makes me feel proud.
I come from Yancheng, Jiangsu, born in 1988.
Study Wind Energy at Technical University of Denmark, DTU.
